A full-day workshop in flowers-on-tulle embroidery as part of the Making Paradise and Silk Road exhibitions at the Aga Khan Centre. You will learn the basic techniques of embroidering with dried flowers and have the opportunity to create your own richly coloured and textured geometric design, using a template inspired by the beautiful Islamic patterns on the Ceiling of Kazakhstan, as photographed by Christopher Wilton-Steer for the Silk Road exhibition.
You will be working on an 8" embroidery hoop. Each participant will go home with their own artwork in a black display box, the set of tools used to create it, and any dried flowers remaining at the end of the workshop.
Cancellation policy - the workshop depends on Covid restrictions being eased as planned. It is non-refundable if it is able to go ahead. If it needs to be cancelled, participants will be refunded in full.
