[ About Time]
A series exploring the notion of time. These clocks are created with foraged dried dandelion seed heads - a nod to the childhood game of telling the time by blowing the seeds off a “dandelion clock”, but intended also to invite reflection on the transience of life, and the balance in nature between resilience and fragility: dandelions are among the hardiest plants, capable of growing seemingly anywhere, while their seed heads are among the most delicate and challenging of organic materials to work with. I’m able to make just one or two of these clocks each year, with dandelions I collect and preserve myself. My aim is for the “About Time” series to comprise 12 clocks, one for each hour of the day, each with its own unique design. Please note that these are art objects, not actual functioning clocks - although unlike the childhood method of blowing on the seed heads, they are at least guaranteed to be accurate twice every day. All clocks are framed in wooden shadow boxes and art glass.
